For the purposes of this Website, I mined my personal
archive (a rather complicated procedure, as it’s somewhat disorderly). I found
drawings and illustrations from different times in my life, including my
student years. I shall spare you the view of my pen-and-ink monster Cuguar
cannibalis (created at a time when I was fascinated with the work of
Franciszek Starowieyski and when we were told, as part of our hand-training, to
make meticulous copies of the etchings and drawings of Albrecht Dürer, which
gave good results). I tell you, the cuguar is quite shocking. I fell
about laughing when I saw it years later. (Oh, alright… if you ask me nicely, I
might show it to you one day…). I also have here illustrations for Wojciech
Żukrowski’s Porwania w Tiutiurlistanie
[Abduction in Tiutiurlistan]. When he saw this work, my teacher gave a snort
(he was not impressed by realism), after which he uttered the memorable
sentence: ‘Well, all in all it’s sufficiently good to be very good’.
